Outline Business Case - the next steps

31 August 2011

The Trust Board met last week to consider the Outline Business Case for the Future Configuration of Hospital Services. At that meeting the Board endorsed the Outline Business Case, which will now be considered by the Primary Care Trusts on 13 September, and by the Strategic Health Authority on 27 September.

The Outline Business Case and suite of appendices is available to download from a dedicated web page.

The preparation of the Outline Business Case marks the beginning of a new phase of engagement with patients, communities and staff to address the challenges to the safety and sustainability of acute hospital services in Shrewsbury and Telford. Over the coming months there will be a series of public meetings, staff meetings, workshops, newsletters, focus groups and other activities to share the ideas set out in the Outline Business Case, invite comments and feedback, and use this to shape the Full Business Case which is expected in Spring 2012. This will include continuing to work with patients and communities to address the concerns that were raised during consultation, and to deliver on the commitments made by the local NHS.

Subject to this work, the Full Business Case would then form the basis for applying for a capital loan for the changes that were recommended following public consultation earlier this year.
